    Default NC Mountains

I've been having fun in my quest to land at each of the 110 public airports in NC. So far, I've landed at 104 of them. During my last trip, I landed at the seven western-most airports in the state on a nice, calm day. You western US guys will chuckle at the thought of us eastern flatlanders calling these little bumps mountains, but they're all we've got over here. Most of my flight was at about 5,500-6,000' msl, and the mountains were right outside my window or even a little above me. The highest point in NC is nearly 6,800' msl. At any rate, I put a few of the highlights on www.youtube.com. Here is the link - or search "n293ct" and "Flying Movie 3.0" if you care to check it out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BOxQSwokRqI

    Default Mountain Air

    Hey Don,
Great video! After seeing Mountain Air on Barnstormer's, "Guess the Runway", it's a must destination. Is it a problem getting permission to land ?

They'll give you permission much quicker if you are coming in to look around as a customer or prospective buyer.

Update - I've now landed at 109 of North Carolina's 110 public airports, plus a number of its private airports. Only Jonesville, NC (78A) is left.

My sister lives in Franklin, NC. The local airport is Macon County (1A5). Did you land there? If so, what did you think of the runways? AirNav has some strong words for the place, but my sister says the runways look okay to her. (She's not a pilot, though).

    Thanks.

The youtube video I mentioned at the top of this thread contains my landing at Macon County, Franklin, NC. It's very scenic, and I saw nothing wrong with the runway.

My quest to land at each of NC's 110 public airports was completed this morning when I landed at Jonesville, NC - 78A. Dead calm winds - very enjoyable flying.

Next time you're in western NC, give me a shout!

I'm not too far from KRHP (Andrews/Murphy) and could meet you there or over at Copperhill, TN (1A3).

Sounds like you're building some great memories (and experience!)
