I flew to OUN (Norman, OK) yesterday to have lunch with some friends. Turns out they were having an open house at the airport with a lot of stuff on static display. The tower asked if I wanted to be part of the display ... what the heck?

I pulled in next to a new Cirrus turbo with the Garmin panel, air conditioning and a $500,000+ price tag, and a Rutan Quickie. Talk about a real cross section of aviation.

We drew lots of on-lookers, and the airport manager stopped me on the way out to get my contact info - they are inviting me back for next year. The airplane looked ugly without the wheel pants, but I'm not putting them back on until I get 90 valve stem tubes in both tires.

Typical fall weather, with puffies from 6000 to 8000 and a solid haze layer in the afternoon (not much low level wind). These are from 8500 on the way there and 9500 on the way back home. 120kt true and a smooth ride (above the layer) both directions.
