Default Hawaii - You won't believe this.

You don't have to feel sorry for Roger H being stuck in Oregon with all the rain, I am in Kauai Hawaii with a bunch of my family, (we took Mom here for her 70th) I was just at the grocery store getting some fixings for a little Super Bowl party, when I heard someone call my name. I turned around and there was Roger and his lovely wife Liz, it's a small world.

I am scheduled to go on a 90 minute ultralight flight tomorrow, which has a 80 hp 912 Rotax, Roger said I will love it. I never wanted to go up in one before because of the two stroke engine, but when I saw they were using the 912, I just couldn't resist

the ultralight flying sounds fun, take a camera.

good timing to be in the islands, we haven't seen the sun here all winter, very unusual. normal amount of snow but no sun.

if you hurry home you can did my truck out.

    Default Hawaii

    Ed,

We have been having flash floods here, raining everyday since we got here on Friday, looks like it will be Wed before the weather improves. Just re-scheduled the Ultra Light flight from this AM to Friday. I am going to pay for the Video of the flight, should be awsum.

I had been spending a couple of hours each day plowing and shoveling snow in Twain Harte, at least I don't have to do that here, temps stay in the 70-80's.

Flew to Turlock a week ago Saturday, 15, gusting to 19 knot direct crosswind landing back at Columbia, was a little bit of a handful, but landed on the first attempt. Sure felt good to get back in the air, miss the CT lately.

i'm really missing my ct as well, went to go flying this morning but the hangar is full of ice on the inside. can't open the door because the counterweight cavity is full of ice.

my new tool box is covered in ice too.

We don't know what season it is in TX. This weekend it was 75 deg and light winds, sunny. Today, we've had severe TS, winds of 20G30, and now temps down in the 30s.

Ed...all that moisture on and around your tool box must cause havoc with the tools....rust etc! How does all that snow find it's way into a closed hangar??

dave it only looks like snow it was ice.

over 100 hangars were/still are full of ice. 150mph winds and endless amounts of snow did the trick

in some hangars like mine the snow not only got in the hangar it also got into the wall cavity where the door counterweight lives and filled that with ice.

at 150mph snow can penitrate seems and seals that are normally weather tight.

all cleaned up now and going flying when the sun comes up.
