    Default Breaks...

It's such a relief not having to worry about my breaks anymore after Roger L's install of the new Matco's.

Do have a question for you..... Roger L.

It seems like I'm hearing a "gurgle" from the reservoir behind my head when I apply the breaks. Does this make sense and if so your thoughts please and thanks?

    Default Gurggle

Don't let your plane use mouthwash anymore.

    Sorry couldn't help myself.

I have never heard of anything that would resemble this gurgle. I don't think it could be the reservoir. Is the level in the reservoir down away from the very top? Could it be another sound from some place else that sounds like a gurgle???

    Default Hearing

Seems like that lovely wife of yours mentioned something about your hearing!!

I'll see if I can investigate further!

    Merry Christmas...

    Default Hearing

My hearing issue just makes it easier for me to use the excuse that I didn't hear her tell me something at times.

    Shhhhhh don't tell her.

    Default Matco Brakes

    Roger H,

I was the second person to have the Matco brakes installed, (Roger Lee the first) and I have never heard any sounds like that.

    Now my noise question.
Just installed Matco brakes with larger tires and my braking distance seems to be cut in half. I have not flown with them yet, but taxied up to 30 and slammed on the brakes today.
    Very, Very nice!

Right as the plane come to a complete stop I hear a pop...fairly loud. Out side you can not hear it, it is the loudest in the baggage compartment. (yes, it was a tight squeeze so no comments). If I ease up on the brakes right as I stop there is no noise. My concern is I also just changed the main gear legs to the heavy duty ones now standard after 2006.

I am aware that carbon fiber as a great noise conductor. Maybe the leg fiber covers move against the body? My old brakes were warped and I would get a softer pop with each rotation.
    Anybody experience this?

    Default pop

    John,

I believe that is only the noise that can be generated between the pads and disc at just the right moment during your stop and gets transmitted up the leg. I have heard it before. Just a hot disc and pad in its final moment as it stops kind of releasing and grabbing, but not anything you can actually feel.
