    Question Throttle Creeping getting worse

    Hi All!
Been a while since I posted on here and hope all you CTflyers are well! I haven't been doing much flying this winter as Minnesota weather has been terrible all winter. I flew last week and the OAT was about 29F and I noticed the throttle would just keep creeping up. Taxing down the runway I had to hold it back and when landing, the same thing. I"m sure it wasn't my shirt getting caught on the throttle stick Anyone? Its due for its 100hr. Is this maintenance related?

    Thanks,

Thanks for the quick reply. Can you explain in better detail or if I suggest this to my A&P guy will he know what it is?

    Thanks,

The throttle springs are designed to pull open the throttles so if the lever adjustment is not tight enough the rpm's will gradually increase its quite easy to adjust the tension

Flying CTSW is just great 500 hrs + now 2100 hrs total

Yesterday is history. Tommorrow is a mystery. And today? Today is a gift that's why they call it the present.

    Hi James,

You need to tighten the throttle friction bolt. Remove the blue and black throttle and brake handles. Remove the 4 screws that hold the panel in place on the throttle cover. Take it off. Look inside and you'll see a long bolt that holds the throttle lever in place. This is also a friction setup. You will need a 13mm open end wrench and a flat blade screwdriver. Put the screwdriver down between the bolt head and and wedge it slightly to keep the bolt head from turning. You can not get a wrench in here to hold it. Then take the 13mm wrench and give the nut a slight turn. It takes very little to tighten this up. Just a little turn. Then move the throttle lever and see if you like the tension you now have. The throttle should not advance on its own during flight. If your happy then put the cover and handles back on. The whole procedure can be done in about 10-15 min.

I did this about 10 times till I added the belleville washer. Without it a change in the weather makes it loosen back up.

Don't forget to align the little pin that indicates the elevator trim position with the slot in the cover. Got me the first time I adjusted the throttle friction---I screwed on the cover and the handles before discovering this, and had to reopen and re-close the cover with the pin aligned...

Same thing happened with the aircraft here.

Anything worth doing right . . . is worth doing twice

    Cheers!

I can you show some pics? I have the same problem , or it's too hard or too loose.
