    Default Aluminum FD Fuel Filter KF28000033

    Does anyone know where I can source one of the new aluminum FD fuel filters (KF28000033) in the USA? Probably easier to have it shipped from the U.S. than Europe. I have not seen it in the Sebring or Airwolf catalogues, so if anyone can give me a pointer, it would be much appreciated.

    Also can I ask what owners think of the new filter? The location of the original plastic filter was very inconvenient and I am wondering if the aluminum screw off filter makes it any easier to check?

    Call CT USA. They have them. It replaces the old filter, but doesn't make it any easier. It is about $65-$70 and is a life time filter. It only needs to be cleaned and then re-installed. sebring should have them, but you need to ask for the fuel filter specifically for the CT.

    As per the above reference, yesterday I changed the Plastisonics for the new Aluminum FD Fuel Filter KF28000033 purchased from you.

    I needed to lubricate the connected parts but still could not push the rubber up to the shoulder of the new filter, at least I found that the existing rubber tube required undue force to push it over the barbs on the connector. There is a gap of approx 6mm between the rubber pipe end and the shoulder of the filter on both sides.

    I measured the diameter of both filters, the original was 9mm the new metal one 10mm. I have concerns the rubber pipe of both sides of the filter may be under excessive stress and may crack over a period of time.

    I would appreciate your comments and also the comments of the Factory.

    Hi John,

    They all have the size difference in the tubing downstream of the shut off valve. There are a few spots where the tubing is the same size. FD should have given this a little more consideration to where the filter goes. It is hard to reach down below the shut off valve. Some have the filters up high about 8" upstream of the shut off valve verses downstream and I think this is a much better place and far more accessible and tubing size is equal. I do not know if you are allowed to change locations. This is something you need to bring up with FD. People might be willing to check it more often if it was more accessible.

    Also, there might be an additional $2wenty something dollar stainless fuel fuel line depending on your current fuel filter setup...read the SB closely and see if it applies to your bird.

    Yeah I have that SS pipe on 07-07-17. The filter is better off downstream of the valve, because then its a doddle to shut the valve, drain the gascolator, and remove the filter with barely a few cc of spillage onto a rag. Upstream would necessitate a full tank drain down which is slow enough business. That I know, as one day I decided to calibrate the sight guage, in view of the fact I stretched the flight (direct overhead the field) to the limit of 5 litres per side. The calibration was accurate, showing five litres remaining each side, followed by ten litres drained out. The plumbing is a little untidy under the binnacle due to the Dynon transducer requiring six inches upstream and down. However it has no effect on filter changing.
    My point of greatest concern has to do with the extra stretch being applied to the rubber tube with possibility of cracking over some as yet unknown period of time. Which aint good if it happens.

    Unless you take off the fuel line up at the wing you almost never have to do a tank drain. You only need to clamp the fuel lines with hose clamping pliers. You can put the filter anywhere. The filter in fact is mounted upstream on a number of CT's and I wish it was there for all of them.

    Is that right...? so, I could install mine there too.(?) ..Much more easier to inspect/clean.

    You would have to ask FD if it was ok to move the fuel filter to the new location. They have others mounted there so i can't see any reason for them to say no.
