Talking New Rotax oil pressure regulator cone

This is a message to all my clients that come to Tucson, Az. for their maint. I now have in stock the new Rotax oil pressure regulator cone. It will help stabilize your oil pressure. This part replaces the old ball bearing on top of the spring which is located just under and to the left of the oil filter. It is a 5 minute install so when you come in next time remind me if you want one. They are $31+ $1.50 for shipping.
It is a requirement if you are eligible for the extended 2000 hr. TBO.

    P.S.
Before I get too many emails to send one out I only have enough for my frequent fly in maint customers.
If I can get more I'll let you all know, but if I can get them so should you.

    Roger,

This may have been covered before, but how do you tell if you need one?

Can I safely assume my 2007 Sky Arrow with a ROTAX 912ULS2 does?

And if I do, can you send me one or recommend a source?

    Thanks!

None of the Rotax engines in the field has one from the factory. It is so new the distributors are just now getting them in stock. If you are eligible for the 2000 hr TBO then you need one. If your oil pressure seems to move around some this may help even out any fluctuations or keep any future issues away. It is just a good item to install for piece of mind.
If you have a 2007 engine then you need one for the TBO extension.

    Hi Guys,

I have installed one of these and I have flew once with it. I wouldn't be in a big hurry. What I saw on my Dynon was opposite what Rotax claims. My over all cruise pressure was 5 psi lower and there was more fluctuation in the lower idle rpm ranges. I am going to fly again tomorrow if it doesn't rain and I'll report back again. It may not be a big deal, but my little ball bearing seemed steadier. It may be too early to call since it was only one flight so don't take this to up front yet. Rotax has more time on their engine with this new part than we do so it's a wait and see.

    Hi Roger

I have fitted one to my CTSW in the UK i have only done 2 flights ..problem i had was fluctuating pressure readings on my MGL Voyager EFIS readings going from 10 bar to 0 then 5 then 2 etc so checked wireing etc found no fault so fitted the new valve now what i get is mostly 10 bar all the time occasionaly dropping to differant pressure's so no improvement at all if not as you say worse .. my engine has only done 200 hrs and is in perfect condition ..next step is to try a known good pressure sender from another engine ..what some are doing in the uk is to fit a home made insert on the pressure sender intake threaded in and a smaller hole for oil to enter this has worked for some ..

Flying CTSW is just great 500 hrs + now 2100 hrs total

Yesterday is history. Tommorrow is a mystery. And today? Today is a gift that's why they call it the present.

We put one in at my last oil change. Pressure does fluctuate less now but also goes a little lower than it did before. It now shows about 32 lbs during low altitude cruise, almost 40 at higher altitudes, and I have seen as low as 25lbs during initial climb. That makes me a little nervous, but I am not sure if I should do anything about it. WF

    Hi WF,

Did you put all three parts in. The cap screw, spring and cone?
