CT, I have to make a trip to Fresno. AFO - FAT puts me directly over your neck of the woods. I think I'm going to head south around the peaks thwn back north to FAT. If you flew direct the MEA looks to be 12,500. Your thoughts?

Got your name from Mike McDonald in Wyoming. What tactic do you recommend for enticing five other pilots into forming a six person partnership with a CTLS? I could fly out of APA or FTG. I tried the Aircraft Partnership Association but all of the responses from there were folks that want a go fast airplane and partners looking to invest 50K to 1.5M. Way out of my league. I want to invest 10K x 6 and put 50K of that down on the CTLS, 10K on hangar, insurance etc. finance the rest of the cost of the plane. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Bob, Castle Rock, CO

Lights (SLSA) to guide Piper's way

by CharlieTango on 01-13-2010 at 04:15 PM
The good news here is similar to Cirrus' entry (then exit) to the SLSA niche. More rotax qualified service centers.

The buzz in Europe is that Piper has become a 49% owner of light aircraft manufacturer Czech Sport Aircraft (CSA), the successor to the bankrupt Czech Aircraft Works. CSA is owned by Slovak investment group Slavia Capital. Neither side has revealed the purchase price, but local business daily Hospodárské noviny has put it at around $30 million.

Death Valley to Mammoth behind a 914 turbo

by CharlieTango on 01-03-2010 at 03:58 PM
I have always thought that to make Woodstock (my CTSW) a better mountain airplane she would need a 914 turo and a new nose. Today I got the chance to see what it was like flying behind the 914 albeit with a different airframe, a mono wheel Europa.

The first leg, Mammoth to Death Valley was into the sun so i didn't shoot any pics till after landing. The climb and speed where a refreshing change, we were at 12,000' in 5 minutes and then cruised at 150kts. Smooth air and a stable ride,
