Just about to get into Todg yesterday & heard a dull throb of a big engine.... looked around to see a PA28 hurtling down the runway & not even touched down by the halfway mark. Heard the power go on & then saw the dust.... drove VERY quickly down the track to find the pilot dazed but OK walking away from the PA28. Apparently had a radio & transponder failure & thought he could land in our 1080 feet of grass (with 30M run off). Nil wind & 24c. The silly thing is... he was only 8 mins away from his destination that would have accepted him without radio . Looks like he panicked & lost the plot.
He is uninjured fortunately but the PA 28 will require some money...
