    Default Crosswind Calculator

    I created an Excel crosswind calculator for my students. It is intentionally more conservative than the POH. Review and let me know of any bugs you find.
    Thanks!

    PS Of course, use at your own risk, consult your own POH, blah blah...

    Default Remember your trig?

    Simple tools for estimating crosswinds, brought to you from your trigonometry teacher (you were paying attention in class, right? )

    Use the following factors to convert wind to crosswind - multiply the wind by these numbers get the crosswind component.

    30 = 0.5
    45 = 0.7
    60 = 0.85

    So, a 14 kt wind @ 30 to the runway is a crosswind component of 7 kt; at 45 deg, this would become roughly 10kt. I always round up to figure the angle, i.e., 35 deg becomes 45.
    190 hours in the CT and have loved every one.
