One guy based at Bishop, who is one of the minimum 182 guys, posted "there's a guy (braver than me) based at MMH who flies a CT Light Sport, and all the local, more experienced guys fly their 172s there routinely".

Some day, word may get out on just how well the CT and Rotax perform. I'd expect you would still outclimb that lightly loaded 182.

i just landed at mammoth 1 hour ago. conditions were on the verge of getting difficult. 10-15 out of the South 90 degree crosswind with a lot of windsheer. a pretty typical landing for mammoth in gusty winds in the ctsw. dirction control is very good, speed control varies ( today up to 10kts ) so i approached 70kts ias and 15 degress but i don't let it contact quite that fast. vertical control is very poor and throttle control is the trickiest part. sometimes i might touchdown with close to full throttle.

i followed a twin seneca in and landed as he was doing his 1st go around. i got to see him land after i put woodstock away and it was really firm. the wind sheer robbed him of his lift when he finally got it close.

it isn't just a matter of power but as well flying the plane as conditions change. if i would have landed that firmly my gear would have likely failed.
