    Default X-wind touch-n-goes

... with a 10-11 kt wind coming from 50 degrees front/right.... great time for some x-wind practice!

    http://youtube.com/watch?v=dd8h1Hfvgac

All done with 0 degree flaps... about 55 kts touchdown... about 2600-2800 rpm

ps... I just noticed the "watch in high quality" option just below the volume control... definately better - you can almost read the gauges.

    Nice video, Tim.

Why does the prop appear to stop and even reverse in flight when the throttle is retarded? Surely it is a camera-related optical issusion? Is use of the alphabet for tower communictions approved, e.g., transmitting CT ("see tee"), instead of the phonetic CHARLIE TANGO?

    Thanx DonBo...

Prop craziness is definately a sync issue with the camera shutter/framerate. CT is used instead of phonetic, as it is the plane type or name, not part of the N-number. Some towers use "flight design" or "light sport", but this tower is comfortable with "CT".

Interesting. I normally use "flight design"; I get asked for the identifier a lot ("FDCT", I tell them), even at my home field.

    Nice video.

190 hours in the CT and have loved every one.

    thanx Doug-
I may have "trained" them a bit. When I first brought the CT to the field, I sent a little package up to the tower.... the CTSW brochure and note announcing their newest tenant. That may have helped. I've only been asked for the official (mouthfull) identifier when transitioning Class B. Otherwise, around Phoenix, they all seem happy with CT.

Very nice picture quality Tim. What kind of video recorder are you using and how did you attach it? By the the way your landings look pretty good too. And speaking of cross wind landings, what does everybody figure the maximum direct component is to be safe. We have gone well above the stated 15knts. I keep getting more confident each time my last limit is passed, but there has to be a maximum that she can hold even withstanding all our little tricks.

    scapman,
camera is a lipstick camera, connected to generic digital recorder about the size of a pack of smokes. 'takes 640X480 @ 30fps. Camera is mounted between headrests. Can take about hours per charge.

x-wind landings- I did a bunch one-day, with an instructor, at 18 kt @ 90 degrees. Steady wind, not gusty.
