New CT2K Owner - Oldest CT2k in the U.S. perhaps
I had an opportunity to pick-up a solid used CT2k from Flight Design USA and I have not been disappointed in the aircraft. In some ways I consider it to be the U.S. Genesis Aircraft for all U.S. CTs. N385DM is the formerly German registered D-MAFF, and it is the aircraft that FD used to get the FAA to certify the series for U.S. airworthiness approval. When I purchased the aircraft, FD-USA provided the original manuals and German certifications along with the U.S. counterparts. The aircraft is in pristine condition with about 650 airframe hours, and about 185 engine hours, (The engine was swapped out at Rotax's direction.) and Flight Design retained the original RED two bladed prop, which I like. So...how's the aircraft?? It's all I could have hoped for and although I am a new pilot with only about 100 hrs under my belt, it's beyond my expectations. Like most new CT pilots, I have been challenged by getting the landings down to an artful science. Frankly, they are still a bit rough but I'm to the point where I'm working on refinement....which is needed. I am learning the attributes of -12 degree flaps at cruise, + 15, +30 and +40 degree flaps at landing, and 0 degree flaps at take-off. At this point in time, landings and flap management seem like a near full-time job. But I like it.....I really really do. So....... if you see me around the cabbage patch, say hello. I'll be the one with the big smile.
