    Default Old member checking in

Hey guys, I've been posting for a couple of years as an "honorary" member in my 4 place CT (aka Cessna 182). Well, I've got some good news that should be finalized in the next few weeks. We've got a prospective buyer on my plane and I'm switching over to the LSA from PPL.

After the Page fly-in last year which was cut short from a faulty starter, I've had some medical issues that I can now elaborate on. At 50 years old, I was diagnosed with prostate cancer! What a way to put me into a tail slide... Well, to make a long story short, it was removed by robotic laparoscopic surgery on March 9th with all margins removed/clear. Today marks my first FULL day back in the office even though I've been doing minor surgical procedures for a few weeks in the OR. I'm feeling 100% and on top of the world now. I know that it is easy to get back a special issuance from the FAA for my 3rd class for this post op condition, but I'm just really tired of jumping through all the hoops and don't want to risk losing my LSA status. (Most of you know this better than I do)

I'm already talking to Tom about the purchase of a new CTLS, but am waiting to pull the trigger until the $$ are in hand from the 182. It'll have the 696, IIVS AP and leather seats. We should be able to get the other plane gone and the new one in the hangar within 2 months, we're hoping.

Well, I just wanted to check in with you all since I haven't posted in awhile and will appreciate any advice in the purchase of the new one.

    SEE YOU IN PAGE!!!

    Hi John,

I remember you and your wife I believe. I remember the starter issue that cut the trip a little short. Hope to see you this Oct. again.

My Cessna is history! I'm really going to miss the carrying capability and speed, but am also looking forward to the CT. It reminds me alot of a "Smart Car". I hope to have it within a month.

As one who sold a very sweet 182 to buy a 2007 CTSW I can tell you that you won't miss the Skylane for long. Every once in awhile I miss the load capability but not often. The CT is too much fun and I am flying 3 times the hours I did in my 182 plus traveling much more in it than I did in the 182. Good move...you are going to really enjoy yourself!

It's interesting that you are doing more traveling in the CT than in the 182.
