    Default Hello

My name is Phil Johnson. I just received access to your CT Forum and I am very excited to hear about the the Flight Design aircraft. I started flying lessons a short time ago and just took my Stage One Check Ride for my first solo. I am ready to go for that. Not sure when I will finish up the license (I am getting a Sport Pilot License) but it should not be to long. I live in League City, Texas and am learning to fly in a Tecnam - P92 - Echo Super at Ellington Field on the south side of Houston. Learning here will get me signed off on all the radio work needed to fly into Towered airports, except A. Anyway, I am having a blast and can't wait until the next time I get to fly.

Flight Design is one of the aircraft I have narrowed the search down to buy when I have achieved some personal goals.

I worked in the R & D field until retirement in 2005. I did serve in the USAF for just over 7 years and really enjoyed that also.

If you have any questions of me give me a shout.

    It's great to be here.

    Phil
    Have a GREAT Day,

    Phil

    Default Hi

Hi Phil, I'm a new pilot and am also new to this forum. I just got my Light Sport certificate this month. I flew mostly in a CTSW during my student pilot training and took my check ride in a CTSW. You'll find this forum one of your main information sources to go to to get your questions answered as a student pilot. I do not own an airplane but should you decide to purchase a Flight Design aircraft, this appears to me to be one of your best sources for owner related information too. All forum members I've received replies from have been cordial and friendly. Welcome and Merry Christmas!

Welcome! I know this is an exciting time for you, because I traveled down the same road about three years ago. My wife and I bought a 2006 CTsw with another couple - and are absolutely having the time of our lives.

I finally realized my life-long dream of flying when the Sport Certificate and Light Sport Aircraft came along. Part of me kicks myself for not getting started earlier, but another part of me thinks this is the best time ever to start flying. Technology is better than ever.

    Phil,

Welcome aboard. Somewhere in this forum is a post I did on my search for the right airplane. My final four, all of which I flew, were the CT, Technam Bravo, Technam Sierra, and Sportcruiser. I preferred high wing so that left only two. I picked CT for most of the reasons you will see posted on this forum but the important ones were fuel capacity, baggage capacity, widest cockpit, performance, composite, and the fact that this plane is the number one seller by a wide margin and I expect it will still be here after many of the brands have gone away.

If you have access to Kit Plane magazine you can find two articles: In October 2007 was a story about my decision process; In the May 2008 issue is a story the writter wrote after flying my plane. These stories, and this forum, will give you alot to think about as you narrow down your choices.
