    Default Any CTs in Texas

Hey everyone. I am interested in purchasing a CTLS but have not seen any in person. Does anyone have one (CTSW or CTLS) in the central Texas area (san antonio, austin, etc) that I could take a look at?

I'm flying a 2006 CTSW out of San Geronimo air park in San Antonio. I was out to New Braunfels just this morning for breakfast. Contact me and we can work out a time you can look over the airplane.

Default 3 CTs in one evening

Flew after work yesterday in 1CT. Heard and saw another CT at GLE (can't remember your tail #, but remember you are based at DTO). While on final at ADS, I heard opticsguy call the tower ready for departure. Not often that you get to see 2 other CTs just goofing around after work.

    Doug,

That was me at GLE. Thought it might be you or opticsguy, but did not have time to chat. I was working on my landings trying to prep for my checkride. It was a total surprise for me as well. Just heard that a student at US Flight academy just purchased a CT and has requested that my instructor assist in checking his instructor out on his CT. Looks like we need to get together and trade stories on our CT adventures.

Good luck with the checkride! Yesterday was a good day to be out practicing.

We can have our own local CT fly-in (fly-out?) soon.

Ok guys, picking mine up Friday in Tulsa and going to Tyler to see my pilot son and his bride. Will be flying back to Lubbock through DFW Class B (or around?) on Saturday morning weather permitting. Can't stop at Addison this time but will in the future to see my brother in Highland Park. Go there often. I'll be listening for you guys... BTW, what do you "officially" call yourselves when talking to ATC. My tail # is N227CT. I'd appreciate examples so I don't screw up and get corrrected by ATC. Thanks, John

    Default FAA ID

    Hi John,

The proper ID is "Flight Design 227 Charlie Tango". The FAA ID code for the Flight Design is FDCT( foxtrot, delta, charlie, tango). If the controller looks the plane up this is what he will find in his aircraft ID book.
He might ask you what you are just out of curiosity. Just tell him you are a special light sport high wing, 2 place aircraft. I use it where ever I go in all airspaces. Telling them you are experimental 227CT is a little misleading and they couldn't find you in the FAA ID book. You are a special light sport not an experimental. Tower personnel need to be educated at times, too.

i think in texas they tend to say light sport. here in the far west "flight design OneZeroTwoCharlieTango" seems to work well 95% of the time.

there are personalities involved and you won't give the controller wat he wants 100% of the time no matter what you say.

    My $.02

I've always had luck with CT xxxxx.... short and sweet. 'Most accept it and use it to describe me to other traffic.... as in "follow the CT on base"... When they ask for more (seldom) I give em the whole thing "Flight Design CTsw, a high-wing light sport, designator FDCT", as you're not sure why they are asking. Some seem to ask so they can get an idea of performance, so I might add "performs like a 172". I personally can't see calling myself a "Flight Design", as it is a company name, not a description of an aircraft. What if they come out with a 4-place go-fast?

fyi... most flying done around Phoenix/Scottsdale/Tucson with numerous class D.
