    Default Demo in CTLS

Hi, I'm Anthony and I am a student pilot with about 50 hours and soon to sit for my checkride. I started my training last September and I am currently training in a Cirrus SR20. I had no previous formal fight instruction prior to beginning my training in a Cirrus. Therefore, my training has been slow and somewhat difficult. Learning to fly from scratch in a new high performance aircraft has not been easy. At the time I thought I would be buying a Cirrus after my training, but all of that has changed as the price of fuel continues to sky rocket and I have come to realize (after 9 months !) that the Cirrus will not be the right choice for me.

I had a chance to see a CTLS a few months ago and I was fascinated with the design and specs of the airplane. In the last few weeks I have performed every possible search on the internet to learn as much as possible about the CTLS. I finally made an appointment with the only distributor in Florida and I will fly this weekend with a friend to have a demo. I'm already "hooked" on this airplane without having even flown it yet. I doubt I will be disappointed.

I want to train an additional 20 hours on the Cirrus before I sit for my checkride. The local dealer in Florida has a few in stock and if I decide to purchase I was considering in continuing with my additional 20 hours in the Cirrus and concurrently train in the CTLS..............but I would like to get some input if this is a good idea. These additional 20 hours could spread up to 60 days.

I would also be interested in hearing about members that have transitioned from a Cirrus to a CTLS or CTSW and hear how they dealt with that experience...............

You would be better off to finish your 20 hours in one plane or the other. Don't mix and confure yourself. At this stage you don't have the experience to do that.

If you are serious about a CTLS, then do your next 20 hours in that.

I concur with John; DON'T mix and match a/c at this stage in your learning. Pick one and stay with it.
In Rose's case she took her first official 8 hours in a Tomahawk. (Has 75 hrs right seat time in CT) Then moved over to our CTsw and is continuing her official training there.
    In any event, happy flying!!!

Default Placed an order for a CTLS

Finally did it. As I reported on my last message I was going to visit my distributor for a demo ride. The experience confirmed that this was the aircraft for me. Placed an order and expect to receive my aircraft in September.

I should be through with my check-ride by then..............and I will do some transition training before taking delivery.

Congratulations. You made a good choice. You're really going to like it - and it's economical to fly so you will fly it more.

I was just out in mine this morning. Took off just after sunrise, CAVU day. Went to the coastal range, saw some wildlife and generally enjoyed the cool, crisp morning. Now I can face the day and still afford to put gas in my SUV!!
