Default Low EGT on Dynon after 100hr

I was flying the other day and noticed that the EGT on the Dynon was low. I should have recorded the Temp but made the FBO aware of it. I was in cruise at about 4800 rpm. The CHT, oil pressue and temps were all normal. I figured low was better than high and didn't deem it worthy of ending my flight. Does anyone anyone know the possible cause for this?

Also, I am planning on flying this week and not sure if it will checked by then. Should I have concern and not fly it until it is resolved? I think but not sure the temps were in 600's.
    Thx,
    James

If the EGT's were in the 600's at 4800 rpm then it is a sender or Dynon issue. It's not the engine.

    James253, just a question...why do you cruise with 4800RPM?

That is they way I was taught to fly it. I usually get about 115kias with that. Possibly my instructor/owner, figures it will burn less fuel? I know it can crusie at higher rpm... My POH says Normal cruse is 4200-5200. I have 912uls.

Definatley not 15 knots, maybe 2 or 3. I am flying about 3000-3500 agl. Possibly the pitch is set incorrectly? I'll take a picture of the display and post next time I fly it. I read the thread on WOT setting and speeds forum and will do some testing. Actually I was wondering why my instructor keeps drilling 4800 into my head when the POH says 5200 is normal cruise. It could also be part of his training technique which might need adjusting.

For training and local area flying I teach 4500-4600 and-6 flaps to put the speed at Va. For cross country I teach 5200 for cruise. Tom

Is there significant fuel burn difference at 4800 vs 5200-5500? Possibly he trying to save on fuel? I just did xcountry and he had me keep it 4800 and actually ripped on me when I let get up to about 5100. For decents on xcountry, (we were dodging a cloud) he had me set it to 4400 and point nose down and not let it exceed 120KIAS. What speeds are you guys getting at 5200? I'm thinking I'd get 120 easy at 3000'. Will have to do some experimenting. My instructor is kinda different type of person. He doesn't seek any further than necessary knowledge regarding the CT. Pretty much goes by whats in the POH. He's been flying for 35 yrs. I'm a newbie pilot and want to know as much as I can about the plane and flying it. I get much better info here from people who have owned and even serviced CTs for years. His experience with the CT was the 5 hours the dealer gives you when you buy it. I should just ask him why he insists on 4800 when the POH says 5200. I guess that would increase his fuel cost and lower hobbs time. Definatley a lose/lose for him.
