    Default gas strut for door

How many here could use a new set of gas struts for their doors? I was thinking of a group rate pricing. Just chime in.

Roger, found out mine actually work great at 85+ degrees. They droop at home on winter days. Would like to pick up an extra set however. Thanks. Departing tomorrow for Cancun then to Key West.

    Hi Roger,

I'd like a spare set, mine are fine but I like to have parts!

Roger, I would welcome a new set if we can get a group rate.

Roger, is there an estimated price for the struts?

If we can not find a replacement in the US then the strut right from Bansbach would be $77 each for a order of at least ten. You can just throw anything in there as it may have too much push against the door attachment points. Those will be the week link. You need something with a strong opening, but a weak closing. Stll looking at as many possibilities as possible. It may take a little time.

I got replacement struts for my Zenair canopy from McMAster-Carr. I replaced the original 40-lb struts with 60-lb units and the cold weather sag stopped.

I recently got a new gas spring from FD in Connecticut, new part # C9997737E, $69.66
Not Bansbach any more, but I have to look in the plane to see the current vendor.

    Hi CCCT,

Could you check the vendor and part number on the strut?

    Thanks

I got out to the plane yesterday. Strut numbers:
    Suspa Liftline F1 210N KW 05 2009 Typ 16-1 01612866
    I bought it on 1/19/2010, part # C9997737E from FD .
Installation was easy, just pull retaining clips, snap off old spring, snap new one on the same studs,
install clips. The new spring holds up better at 32F temperature. I've only replaced the left side... it must
be a function of frequent use. Plane is a 2006 model.
