    Default New Desser Tires

We put these on my mains the week before last- trying to keep goat heads at bay. Tires went flat upon my return here to Camelot from Casa Grande. Dana talked me out of installing 6 x 600s with the larger wheel pants and recommended these new Dessers. Two takeoffs and landings to date without punctures. Time will tell.

    Default Newer tires

I mounted these new tires today. It was very easy. No muss no fuss just bolted the two halves right up. The main tires are a more squared shoulder and not quite as rounded as the old Kendas. You will notice it more if your camber is way out. If you start to wear down the edges you can swap sides of the plane with the tires. Very stout too, I bet you could land with a flat tire and might not even know. Good safety aspect. Lots of good thick rubber between you and the ground. If you have Matco brakes then the camber adjustment issue is just a matter of putting in two washers to make the wheels set flatter to the ground. The 8 ply should help if you have any taxi or landing side load issues. I think there a big improvement over the Kendas. (Kendas are paper thin and no side support)

    Sandpiper,

I might have set a new tire mounting record today with these new Aero Classic tires from Desser. Boy they were easy to mount.

    Hi Philip,

With all that rubber on the ground now I bet your sticker and flat tire issue is gone.

    Default New Tires

Roger, after installation of the new heavier rubber, does the useful load change? Do you need a new weight and balance? And thanks for sending the O-rings.

They may be a few pounds heavier, but not enough to sweat it. Useful load won't change, but by a few pounds. No new weight / balance. I'd feel a whole lot safer with these tires over the thin skinned Kendas.

    Default Tires

Why don't we meet somewhere and you could put a set on 9WD? It could be exciting, fun, etc... Could you sell me the tires? ...I could have them installed here? I have the larger size 6.00-6.

    Default 6.00 - 6

    Hi Mike ,
If you have the 6.00-6 tires then you already have several tire options and don't need the ones I just posted because they are only 4.00-6 for the guys with the smaller tire CT's. Many people on this forum use the Aero Classic 6.00 - 6 Monster tread tire from Desser. They come in 6 or 8 ply and have very thick tread and last forever. Great tire or you you can pick one of the standard choices.

    Default New Desser Tires

The Desser 8-ply 4.00-6 tires weighed 4.0 lbs each. The Desser 6-ply that I replaced weighed 3.7 lbs each which was about the same as the Sava 6-ply that came originally on the aircraft. The new 13x500-6 TR-87 Leakguard tubes weighed 0.2 lbs more than the original Sava tubes.

Just a quick plug for those Dresser Monster Retreads in 6.00. Put those and Airstop tubes on your plane and all your tire and tube issues all go away. The most cost-effective mod you can do.

Maybe we can get Desser to retread the 400 x 6, 8-ply with 11/32 treads.
