Default Oxygen - What bottles fit where?

I'm planning to get an oxygen system for the CT that can also be used in my club's sailplanes. It looks like a smallish bottle (9 cu ft) will fit betwee the pilot's seat and the fuselage, standing up straight. The cylinder I'm considering is about 4.5" diameter x 13" high - about the same size as a 2-liter bottle. This location works AS LONG AS you remove the little stud that holds that corner of the fabric flap to the baggage compartment - otherwise, you have a somewhat sharp edged metal stud that's going to rub against the cylinder - not good.

A larger cylinder would fit horizontal in the baggage compartment with the valve poking into the cockpit - you can easily reach down and turn the valve from the pilot's seat.

Any other ideas? Will post photos of the setup once I have it.

    Thanks,
    Doug

    Default Oxy

I have a great system from Mountain High. I set the bottle in the baggage compartment directly behind the pilots seat and have the "pulse demand electronics" Velcroed just below the cabin light / just above the leather map pocket (that maps don't fit in). I run the tube from the bottle thru the flap behind the seat to the "electronics". I usually know when I'm going to use the system so I turn the bottle on before I leave the ground. The "electronics" can be set to go off at different flight levels or on all the time so I don't worry about the bottle being on. It ain't cheap but it works great and the pulse demand system pays for itself by only using Oxy when needed.

Sounds like we're thinking of the same thing - That's the "O2D2", 2-place pulse-demand box? A bit more expensive up front, but makes for fewer bottle refills.

What size bottle do you have?

I have exactly the same setup and the same mode of operation as Roger. Arrived at this configuration independently so it makes good sense to two of us! I use O2 regularly on flights when I know I'm going high to avoid weather or catch the good winds. Very economical on O2 and the fiber wound bottle is really light.
