Problems with rudder flutter are not singular cases...

Is there anything more you can add to that statement? This is the first I heard of rudder flutter.

Hi Glenn, the SA is for the stabilator and not for the rudder, I mail you the SA if you want.
If you read the SA you understand that it's only a legal protection for Flight Design. If fact the stabilator in the question was broken at 170 knots.....
You understand that CTSW is not built for that speed.

    Ciao

I read the SA carefully and it does not appear to apply to US market Light Sport CTSW's. Does anyone else concur?

I´m not sure if it´s apply to the US market CTSW.
I just want to say that the speed of 130kn is ground speed and just in the mind of FD. The report of the BFU is not written. So everything is possible: pilots error and/or construction failure

My reading of it is that it applies to all countries if you have a CT with the full width trim tab. The older CTs and the CTLS have 3/4 width trim tabs and aren't affected.

My reading of it is CTSWs sold as LSA (ie. 600kg MTOW) are not affected.

    From the SA:

    Non-affected aircraft:
    • CTSW aircraft delivered as LSA aircraft (600 kg) are equipped with stabilizers built from significantly stiffer carbon fiber fabric instead of the Aramide fabric used on the more weight sensitive Ultralight aircraft. The increased stiffness of this version shifts flutter limits to higher airspeeds. In addition the Vne of LSA aircraft is below the Vne of the Ultralight version. Therefore CTSW LSA aircraft are not affected.

Yup. And 600kg = 1320 pounds, our max weight
