Default Getting a Dynon Autopilot in my CTsw

My CT is in the avionics shop getting the Dynon Autopilot installed. Looking forward to seeing how it works tied in with the EFIS. Ill keep you posted.

I've been wanting to put in the Dynon AP servos, but never got any indication
from FD USA that an LOA would be granted. Please let us know how it goes,
and any special mechanical work needed. I read the standard AP vendor won't
    sell brackets separately any more.
I think it would be great to have Dynon, reducing cost and reducing total power drain.

Well, hit the first snag today. Everything seems pretty straight forward until you get to the roll servo install. I now see why the "standard vendor" has the funky looking servo arm on the roll servo. It is a bit close tolerance back there within all the linkage. Bad news is the Dynon servo output shaft with nut is a bit long and can interfer with the linkage. The normal servo has a countersunk nut holding the funky servo arm on so it does not have the same issue. This may take more time then I thought.

FD engineering, if your reading this how about a little help? I know there are some politics with the "Standard vendor" but lets not let the users suffer because of it. There should be plenty of business to go around!

Any news on the servo installation ? I'm reaching a go-nogo decision to add Dynon or TruTrak during my annual inspection in April.
    Thanks, Bill Mc.

    Bill,

You might try giving John at Sebring Aviiation a call or a call to Dynon and asking your question. My guess would be at this point you'll need to go with the Tru-Trak. I don't think Dynon is up to snuff on the AP as yet. Probably another six months would be my semi-educated guess.

The Dynon autopilot is actually alive and well in other aircraft, just not in the CT! When I talked to Dynon a couple of months ago they said I would have to talk to FD for the mounting hardware and, of course, approvals. I didn't follow through as I wasn't ready to purchase at the time .

The Dynon software revision required for the CT autopilot is almost done. The hardware is another challenge. The roll hardware for the CTsw, or CTLS will be very similar.

Right now for retrofits the Trutrak is your best bet. Well proven, and it works.

    Thanks John,
I have been waitng on a solution to the roll servo install for the CTsw. I have everything together on the bench, wire harness built, pitch servo bracket ready. Just haven't had time to research/modify the roll servo bracket or spacing to accomodate the Dynon servo. You guys did a install in a CTLS correct? Do you have a drawing of the roll servo bracket? I had also heard the roll servo may have to be the higher output SV42 to overcome the springs on the aileron linkage.

The quote I got from Sebring (from John) was the list price of a TruTrak option on CTSW.
    Logical, flawlessly logical.
