Should be for slower flight characteristics and stabilization.
Hi
When I ordered my CT in 2004, they were 'kind of a option''
- ''Drooped Wingtips for reduced induced drag amd increased directionnal stability''
that was for the CT2K ...but the SW became available and I choose that .
I have the first SW in Canada
Drooped wingtips were ''better'' than round tips and now ''winglets'' (LS/MC) are better than drooped tips...what's next

Hi John,
The droop tips help reduce the wingtip vortices caused by the spill over of high pressure air below the wing into the low pressure air above the wing. This does a couple things, first it helps gain back that bit of wing area normally lost due to the turbulance of the wingtip vorticies of squared tips, it also helps keep the ailerons more effective during slow flight. A winglet like on the CTLS does the same basic thing but maybe a bit sexier!

They are also there to knock you in the shoulder, head or collar-bone when you're doing the walk around. Done that a few times !
