I just re-newed my insurance and kept my hull value at $90K. The premium did not change. I'm currently paying exactly $1200.00. I use Aviation Insurance Resources. Does anyone else have an idea of hull coverage, or agents with better rates??

Hello Mike. I also have A '05 ctsw..I am paying $1700.00 for 75K value with Avemco....So your's looks pretty good.....steve
Hi Mike. My 06 with the same co. AIR is $1700 for 100K value...-chris
Looks like Chris Wolberg @ AIR is hooking me up. Most likey total time and/or "time in type". Probably will lower my hull to $70-75K next year.
Mike
Aviation Insurance Resources, Chris Wolberg for me. $1616 for $110K. That's what I paid for my 2006 CTSW when it was new. I'm a high time pilot and my partner is a low time pilot. Planes don't depreciate in the insurer's eyes quite like a car. If I total mine I get $110K, but that's what I have it insured for. If you insure yours for let's say $80K you will only get that if you total it and not the full value you paid if it was more. You can only insure it for what you paid. You can't isure a plane for $120K if you only paid $105K.The premiums are based on your flight time and type of aircraft. Aviation Resources was a savings over Avemco of about $400 for the same coverage.
Gregg Ellsworth at Aviation Insurance Resources (877-247-7769) placed mine with USAIG and I paid $1,094 for hull coverage for my 2008 CTLS. Haven't received my renewal rates, yet. He quoted from a half dozen companies, and USAIG was $1,000 cheaper than Avemco and this policy has a zero deductible. Note that USAIG is not related to the infamous AIG of TARP-Bailout fame.

My insurance is coming up and I have been with Avemco for $1702/yr with $115,000 hull, $1,000,000 PD, $100,000 each person and $3,000 medical each person. Avemco just gave me a renewal quote for the same price.
After reading this thread, I called AIR and talked to Joe Ruck. His best quote for the same coverage is $1911. Quotes ranged all the way up to $3300. I told Joe he was missing the Avemco quote by over $200. He did say there was a difference in coverage. Apparently AIR quotes $100,000 each PAX whereas Avemco quotes each PERSON. The difference only affects people on the ground or outside your aircraft. Example: With AIR your passenger is covered to $100K leaving $900K for those not in your plane even if it is only one person whereas Avemco would only cover $100K for that one person outside the plane. Still, I'm not initially inclined to fork over the extra for that coverage. I might change my mind after I think about it. Joe also said rates have been going up. I can also lower my Avemco rate by another 10% by getting x-wind dual and completing some WINGS knowledge courses and Avemco has an open pilot clause whereas AIR does not.
Based on what some of you have been paying, I am dissappointed. With 5000 hours, no accidents or incidents plus multiple ratings I would like to think I'm getting as good a rate as you can get. Joe assures me I am but it doesn't appear to be that way. Maybe, at 65, I am starting to see the age factor start to creep in.
Comments anyone??

Hi John,
Please try one more time. Call AIR, but this time I want you to call Chris Wolbert at 877-247-7769. I know, but just humor me and see what he comes up with. Mine is $1616 for the same coverage. Mine is based on my partner's which has a lot less hours than I do. Three things may be happening. There has been some type of adjustment at AIR for pricing, the individual agent or your age (dementia).
See if you had been like me you would have stopped the birthday thing at 45 and told everyone else to forget it too.![]()
I know others have quoted AIR as having the best rate, but you might want to try the EAA agent, Falcon Insurance. 866-647-4322.
I deal with Jim Stewart there. They renewed me this for 2010 for 95k Hull, 1,000,000 liability, 100k per Passenger, 10k medical
for about $1800. I'm 1000hr, Pvt+Inst, accident free. I take Wings courses, but no discount with Global Aerospace.
Avemco quoted a higher price, and would only do 75K hull, citing loss of value for 2006 CTSW in the market.
I did have an 'incident' in the past while with Avemco - hard landing, bent gear attachment @ wheel.
BTW, I plan on looking @ Independence to live there... if the TTF issue gets settled!
