    Yannik,
Thanks for your wonderful adventure. My flight from Ireland to Spain and back via Porrentruy, Switzerland seems simple compared with your saga but I'm curious to know your cruise setting r.p.m. and average fuel consumption during your sea journeys.

I'm curious how you managed to stay awake while crossing the Oceans and at what elevation you did it at? Also, was there ever a time that you felt like you might not make it?

I'd also like to say THANK YOU for such a great adventure. What a thrill it must have been to accomplish such a feat.

I'd like to know the biggest and smallest airports you landed at and the worst crosswind you experienced on landing. Thanks.

My question is related to how to take off and fly the CT over gross weight and the reduced performance.

What was the hairiest take off in this configuration?

Also did you ever have any mechanical issues in flight or any other concerns during the flights?

Congratulations on your successful flight! I am happy your returned safely.

    My questions:

How much fuel did you use in total? How much oil? Did you have to add any between oil changes? How far did the two planes stay apart on most flights? Some of the photos I saw were very good close-ups. Are you going to post more pictures of your trip on your website? Where is Switzerland? (Just kidding, I figured I would contribute to the stereotype that Americans don't know geography.)

    Thank you.

    Hello Mac,
Because of heavy weight and relatively low propeller pitch setting (ground adjustable only) we were forced to fly full throttle for the first 3 to 5 hours wich gave us about 5300 RPM and 23 LT/H then we were reducing to 5000 RPM and 21 LT/H or 4800 RPM and 19 LT/H if fuel critical. Cruise altitude initial 2500 FT then 4500 to 6500 FT generally.

    Hello Roger,
Actually our 15 hours and more flights didn't feel so long most probably because the workload was important (navigation, fuel management, communication, decision on best altitudes for winds and weight, wx outlook and avoidance, food and drinks, pictures.....). Elevation was generally between 2500 to 8500 FT but we had to go as low as 900 FT over the South Atlantic for wx avoidance and flew for 6 hours at 1200 FT over the Pacific to benefit from low altitude Alizee westward winds. We were always confident we would make it but not always sure were !!

    Hello Jim,

Biggest was Oakland, we needed a long runway oriented over the sea for our night maximum overload takeoff to Hawai, the smallest was maybee Bergamo in Italy but it wasn't than small. Worst crosswind was in Maui Hawai with 28 knots gusting 35 winds but only 30 deg off runway axis !

    Yannick,
Ten years ago, before I took up flying, I decided to finish my carreer on motorbikes with a trip down to Gibraltar and then through Morocco and on to west Africa. Still after all those years I am still 'haunted' in a nice way of all the experiences I had on that trip and I wonder how you will ever surpass the experience you had of your own
trip. What's next and when is the book coming out? How does it feel to be flying the corridors of Switzerland compared with the unlimited visibility of an ocean. I find it strange coming back to Ireland after a flight to mainland Europe with all the blue skies and then have to limit my altitude to no more than 1500 feet for the rest of the year!
