Default Commuting to work with your CT

Does anyone else use their CT to get to work?

P.S. We are lucky enough to have a suitable landing spot at one of our scrap yards, and the other three have airports within a few miles.

Very cool! How long is the landing area at the scrap yard, how far away is it from home, and how much time do you save on your commute?

PS: of course I'd rather fly than drive even if it took longer!

The landing strip has 800 ft slightly uphill with no obstructions at either end. Landing up the grade in the mornings, usually little or no winds takes 400 ft. I do the approach alone at 48 knts full flaps. I'm only 155 lbs. The trip from our home airport takes 23 mins versus 1.5 hrs on the road due to the lack of a bridge in the right spot over the Mississippi. The other two away yards that we own are 2.5 and 1.5 hrs on the road. The farthest one takes 52 min and a 3 mile ride in our personal airport car we leave on site. The last yard has a 3000 ft turf strip thats open all year and is 1 mile away. Sometimes I visit all three on the same day. Yeah, I dread that day when it happens, but you know the old saying "somebodys got to do it".

How about the takeoff. Do you go downhill? Flap settings?

Sorry about the late post. Yes, downhill on takeoff, and flaps 15. Have never had a bad tail wind yet on takeoff, but I think anything stronger than 12 knts I would take the uphill. It really isnt a bad grade, maybe 25 ft 30 ft in 800 ft. Becuase of the gravel I accelerate modestly and lift the nose a bit right away. No damage to prop yet, and just a few nicks in front wheel pant.
