At about 100 hours in my CTLS the autopilot display began to show streaks and blank lines on it. At about 200 hours the display become unreadable even though the unit functioned normally. This condition is well known to Trutrak and they are offering repaired/replaced units. Call them to get a RMA and instructions.
When you disconnect the autopilot controller you will notice that it has three pitot air connections. I don't know for a fact but I assume that with these nylon tubes hanging loose all pitot functions would be inoperative. At any rate, I wanted to plug them to keep any dust or insects out of them. Note that the tubes are flared on the end.
I found at our Tru Value hardware store that there are a number of connections for tubing. The one that fit these flared 1/8 inch nylon pitot tubes is labeled on the package "1/8 IN MIP PLUG STK NO 52659B" manufactured by Danco Company, Concordville, PA 19331. The bar code is 37155 52659.
I put these on the flared tubing finger tight (so as not to possibly damage the flared end) and the altimeter, airspeed indicator and Dynon all function normally in flight while the autopilot controller is away being fixed at Trutrak.
