    Default Wing Covers; Dynon

    Afternoon All:

I just got wing covers for my CTLS from Bruce's Covers and I highly recommend them; they fit well, cover the full wing. I got them because of bug, bat, and bird droppings in my shade hanger. I soon will have to park outside because of new construction The shade hangers which have survived 45 years of hurricanes cannot be rebuilt due to insurance comany objections, so I am out.

On a sour note, my Dynon 120 EMS has packed up again. This is the second time in a year, I can recycle the CB to get it back, but it blanks out in a few minutes. Should I be concerned about long term D-120 reliability!

Sincerely, Ken Nolde N840KN, 180 hrs and I love it!

    Default Dynon Malfunction

You should be able to send it back to Dynon and explain the situation and they should get you fixed up.

For those that have Dynon I would recommend not updating for a short time to 5.1.1. I'm going to keep 5.0 for a while until some of the complaints dye down.
They seem to be having a few more issues than normal with this update.

    Default Dynon

Roger: I Appreciate the eply and I did not know of problems with the Dynon 5.1. Unfortuately or fortunately as you view it, Lockwood in Sebring is sending a D-120 (under warrantee) to a local avionics shop here in Pensacola (the shop is comfortable with dynon equipment) and it comes with theupdated version, I will have to have my D-100 (with 4.0)updated to be compatible. So I guess I will find out how good it is. As an "oh by the way" John Hurst of Lockwood says that there is a Dynon software upgrade coming from or through Flight Design that will be mandatory. I should mention that this information is 6 months old as FD has said nothing that I am aware of to date.

My real concern is tha I have experienced a an error rate of 160 hours between major failure with my Dynon 120 equipment. Not a sterling record.

    Enjoy, Ken Nolde

    Default Dynon

    Hi Ken,

It sounds like a program error and I think Dynon may be the only people who can do chip programming. The software anyone should be able to do. You do need to have both units using the same software update. I haven't heard of an FD Dynon update. Seems like only Dynon would produce them, but I guess we will find out eventually. My D120 screen went blank a while back. Sent it to Dynon and they turned it around in 2 days and sent it back 2 day service. They said it was a programming issue that they needed to fix. I have 430 hrs. on mine and that is the only issue so far. Dynon has great customer service both on the web and at the factory.

    Ken:

Do you have any photos of the wing covers? My hangar space gets pretty dirty sometimes, too.
