Tip had mentioned in a previous comment that the folks at Lockwood had a "fix" for solving the stiffness in the aileron controls of the LS. Mine were so stiff when I picked up my plane that I had the folks in Tulsa do something that involved changing the autopilot controls to "loosen up" the aileron/autopilot interconnect. It improved the feel somewhat but still left banking the plane more of a challenge than I liked.

While down in Florida I called John Hurst at Lockwood to inquire about the fix that Tip had mentioned. He told me that it was a comprehesive job that would require two men for two days to do at a cost of about $2,000. All of a sudden the need to make the ailerons more resposive became mute.

The "fix" was essentially returning the new LS control system back to the older SW system which would require new bearings and much rework of the autopilot/control systems.

In case anyone is interested in having this done you can call Tom at Lockwood to schedule.
