    Default Tow bar mod

    Hi Guys,

Here is the tow Bar mod. pics
This is a Ercoupe #13-01580 tow bar from Aircraft Spruce. The addition of the little aluminum bar by the spring was added to lock the bar into position.

Very nice! I'll get the Dremel tool out and get busy!
190 hours in the CT and have loved every one.

    Roger.

The ramp in front of our hanger slopes up slightly so we are looking to do the mod you show so we can use a tow bar with N44BZ. What is the size of the bolt you used (length, diameter, thread)? Thanks!

    Default Front wheel mod

    Hi John,

Gosh it's been a while. I don't remember the size, but it only needs to be another 3/4" longer than the one already in the axial. Pull it out and get a metric bolt that is 3/4" longer. The plastic rod can be had at any hardware store. The plastic stud is 3/4" long. Drill a hole through the center to accept the new bolt. Put it back together and use Loctite. It's really pretty easy. I would also put a plastic sleeve inside the ends of the tow bar that goes over the wheel stud to make sure you have a snug fit and let it protrude just slightly past the outside end so the metal part of the towbar doesn't touch or scratch your wheel pant.

I'll have to fly up or you'll have to fly down sometime. There is CT maint. experience in Tucson.

Thanks so much Roger. I am going to do this tow bar mod in the next couple of weeks. Appreciate the invite over and I will take advantage of that and hop over sometime soon to absorb some of that CT maintenance experience resident there! In our three pilot partnership I am the wrench so any information or ideas I can pick up from anyone is appreciated. Flew N44BZ for the first time today along with our dealer, Brian Longwill. Some airwork and then pattern work...really hammered the pattern with nine landings. 15 degrees flaps, 58 knots, and 2800 rpm works like a champ and the landings were not the challenge I was expecting them to be based upon what I have been hearing...even with the 10 - 12 knot left crosswind at the airport today. The CT handles very predictably, is very responsive...a 2 finger-on-the-stick plane! It is only going to get better from here!!

    Hi Peter,

These are just jpeg pictures. Your computer may be blocking them with a popup blocker, spyware or anti virus.
Try to save the area of the picture to your desk top and see if you can open them.

    Roger ,

Thanks, but I don't think that is the issue as my pop up blockeris off and I am able to see the photos posted in threads like the storage solutions by Wetscoast.

How weird- whilst typing this reply I can now see the images as I scroll down.

I had the misfortune to blow a MLG tire while taxing several months back. The tire had a small spot worn through to the cord. I was delinquent in properly checking the tire pressure and tread condition on pre-flight. I looked at the first CTLS when it arrived at Sebring-Aviation early this year. It had the cut outs on both MLG pants. I think later model LSs do not. I wonderwhy? I had the cut out mods done to my MLG pants. Very easy to do with a Dremel tool. They are very useful in checking tie pressure without removong the pants.
QUESTION: Has any member asked for or received an approval from FD for the mod? It appears to me that we need one to remain legal?? DonBo
