    Default Covers

    Hi Guys,

I am right in the middle of having a cover made that should be more than half the price. It should be done in a couple of weeks. I will keep you posted.
Bruce's covers are nice, but pricey and heavy.

    Default BRUCE'S CUSTOM COVERS

    Hi Roger and everyone,

Our standard canopy cover is 100% lined, is treated for water repellency and UV protection. It is made to be used year around in rainy, snowy, and sunny conditions. Our covers stop leaky seals, protect the glass, upholstery and avionics from the elements.

Our CTsw covers only weigh 8-9 lbs., are quite durable and the canopy cover is only about $300. You may spend less money on a "lighter, fly-away" cover but you will most likely have to purchase another cover in 1-2 seasons.

We are currently developing a lighter weight dust cover or "fly-away" cover out of lighter material that will cost less. The trade-off is that it will last only half to a third of the amount of time that our standard cover would last.

I have attached some pictures of our covers on the CTsw. Please feel free to take a look. Also, any CTsw member who would like to order a cover or engine inlet plugs that mentions they saw this posting or is a member of CTFlyer.com will get an additional 10% off of their next order through us.

I look forward to fielding any questions or concerns about our covers.

All the best and happy flying!

    Adam,

I hangar my CT but would be interested in a lighter fly away cover.

    Default Lighter, Fly-away Cover

    Hi CharlieTango,

No problem. We've selected a great, 4-way stretch, reflective and light-weight material. We are now creating a prototype and I'll keep you posted.

What's your Tail Number and Phone or Email and I'll give you a holler when we've completed the production of a fly-away cover with which we are satisfied.

The cover will probably come in a Silver, Charcoal, Blue or Red color and will look and fit like our standard covers you see in the attachment.

    All the best,

    -Adam

    Thanks Adam,

Why don't you post here when you have it ready and that way you will alert me and others at the same time.

We have a Bruce's cover. It is well built, waterproof and looks like it will withstand a lot of wear. As others have noted, it is heavy (10lb) and bulky. It would be nice to have a lighter weight cover to use on trips but, as noted, it would be less durable.

There are several versions available. I would recommend the engine/cockpit cover - it goes from the front of the cowling and covers back to the BRS window, stopping short of the COMM antenna. On the bottom side, it extends down to the bottom of the doors. There is elastic around the wing root area, although it looks like it might rub on the trailing edge. It uses 2" straps and buckles to attach - sturdy.

If I had to store my CT outside for any length of time, I would recommend a cover like Bruce's. If you want a cover to take with you and use just a few days/yr, I would seek a lighter material. I'd love to see such a cover and wish the material had been available when we ordered ours.
190 hours in the CT and have loved every one.

    Default Light Weight Cover

    Hello Doug,

I understand your cocern about the light weight cover. A CTsw owner in Arizona and/or Texas brought it to our attention that we should create such a product. We were hesitant at first because of the durability factor but then realized the cover would be invaluable to such owner/operator.

If you give me your email and/or phone and your tail number, I'll keep you in the loop regarding our light weight covers and when they will be available for your CT.

    All the best,

    -Adam

    Default Covers...

I would think all LSA owners would be interested in light weight covers due to the weight limitations of the LSA category - just a thought!

    Default Light weight travel cover

    Hi Adam,

I am the one from Arizona that tried to get you to make a lighter weight travel cover. It was not meant to be a long term storage type cover, but something just to take on trips since we are all limited on space and weight. My last travel cover was made out of Ripstop coated Nylon that had a flannel lining. I have known several people who use this material with success. You would be right to state that your regular silver lamenate cover would hold up longer under every day outside storage, but we only want it for the occasional trips and over night stops. This worked very well on trips in keeping dust and especially rain out. I'm not suggesting you use flannel as a liner or even Ripstop Nylon, but it was light and the cover weighed only 3 lbs. and you could toss it in the washing machine if it had to be cleaned. I know the word "breathable" will come up, but I never found it to be a problem. I was much more satisfied to keep the rain out than being breathable because it was never left stored under this cover. I will try to call you tomorrow.
