    Default Wire labelling

I have recently had reason to inspect the wiring harness and try to trace some circuits. Refreshingly I nearly always know the source of the problem as it is invariably the WHITE wire.

When trying to identify the circuits I noticed that despite having a small plastic tag with 2 small holes on most of the wires the writing had actually rubbed off making them almost impossible to read.

In an effort to prevent similar problems I used a Brother label maker to make some flag style labels for each circuit as I identified them. But this was a little messy and still had the potential to tear or rub as well.

Last week while looking for some white heat shrink tubing to try and write on and shrink around the wire I came across another better option - Dymo produces a HEAT SHRINK cartridge for use with its Electrical model label maker.

It uses either 9 mm or 12 mm ( I think) Heat shrink and comes in a few colours- but white was fine for me so I printed up the labels I wanted 2 lots one for each side of the harness plugs and placed them over the circuit before installing the terminals into the Plugs, Once fitted it is just a matter of heating the labels to get them to shrink .

In my case using the 9 mm labels, they didn't shrink tight onto the thinner wire but that really isn't a problem as the sleeve slides which is really helpful as I can follow a wire through the loom just sliding it all the way from end to end.

SWEET! I've noticed that the tag labels have worn down / off too.
