Actually, calling the instructor helped out a lot. The first instructor I had couldn't commit to flying at least 3 times a week, so I joined this flight school where they could. Now I fly almost every day.
Hmmm.. made me recall my first instructor when I started in aviation. The bottom line is that you do not appreciate the manner in which you are being treated and taught. This will ultimately affect your flying and may even endanger you in the future by continuously being nervous in the presence of your instructor. The good news is that there are many excellent, capable instructors out there with the requisite people skills or personality which will match your needs as a student. You are a paying customer...vote with your wallet and seek out another instructor pronto! Some peole respond well to critical teaching, others don't. I nearly gave up flying due to my first instructors shouting and constant criticism. Luckily I didn't and a few months later, found a great instructor who gave me confidence and a true appreciation of good airmanship. Good luck in finding a compatible and capable instructor.
