Landing

Today's lesson rocked. I didn't have any problems with my landings. Every one of them was straight, I touched the ground in under 1000feet of the runway, and when I landed it was really smooth (there wasn't a thud).
Also, my instructors think I'm just about ready to solo (which rocks).
One thing that really helped my landings was studying the KVGT traffic pattern.
I memorized what speeds and power settings I should be flying with throughout the pattern. Now I don't have any problems with my landings.
Another thing that helps is saying what I am doing.
For example, when I'm clear of obstacles and my speed is at 67 I say I'm switching to 0* flaps. Or when I abeam the runway numbers, I go through the landing checklist, seeing if everything is cool and lowering the power, etc. Hope that makes sense.
Another really cool thing about VGT is that I'm friends w/ ATC. Last week one of the controllers wished me a happy birthday over the intercom (which is pretty cool).
