    Default iFly

Here's another GPS I'ld like to hear more information about from those of you that have experienced it. Sounds GREAT... just don't like the "plug in" feature. Slap a four hour battery on that thing!

    Received mine yesterday...

I have an addiction problem - need to buy, see and test every GPS out there! Don't tell the boss!!

My favorite one by far and away is my panel mounted 696 but with that said WOW is this new iFly cool or what (received it yesterday). I don't like the fact that I have to plug it in but having the sectional in the background is top notch. It's also got the easiest and most understanding interface I've ever seen.

While the iPad is lots of fun, it's really not a great GPS in the cabin. I think it's terrific to haul around as a portable computer, look up the weather, etc., etc. BUT my new secondary will be the iFly!

    Highly recommended...

good blog on both at ByDanJohnson.com - Home Page

and the best part... it's at a price even Roger L can afford!!

Just flew to the coast and back with my new iFly. AMAZING product. Best interface on the market. Fast. I love it...

Couple of draw backs... needs to be a little brighter but ok in shade. Wish it had a battery and a GPS connection. Other then that - it's my new backup GPS! A real winner I think!

    Roger.
I have had an IFLY 700 since Feb.. I posted about it under the CT4ME post "Backup Gps" on 03/27/10... I wondered when somebody else would jump on this unit... I carry a Black & Decker battery booster in case I have a low battery and would be able to use this in case of in flight power failure... GPS connection??? It does have an external GPS antenna connection. I have been very impressed with the unit, the price, the web site for downloads and support and most of all the personal interaction with the developer, Walter Boyd via the website... Mine will help me get to Page in October...Continue to enjoy yours!!!

    Default Tac

I was going to get one of these a few months back but the company told me it did not support Terminal Area Charts. They said this could not be done for some reason; however SkyCharts does do the TAC just fine on the ipod... Have you heard any word about them adding TAC to iFLY? If they do, I will probably get one.

    BasinFlyer... Here's your answer...

    Roger,

The TAC charts will be coming out with our next software update, which will be released shortly after Oshkosh. All software updates are included in the annual subscrption you pay with no extra charge.
