500 GREAT & Fun-filled Hours
Greetings:
Just curious if any of you new CTLS owners out there (or anyone for that matter) have flown behind the new Dynon Skyview and could offer up your thoughts and experience please and thanks...

Roger,
I have a lot of hours behind the Skview - and it is awosome!
There is a new software version out (2.5) that even puts the runways on synthetic vision. It is very feature complete, even includes an HSI, and the wind arrow etc.. There is a new failover feature that automatically reconfigures the screens if one is switched off or fails.
Reliability is also great. I have never seen a failure period. That's more than I can say for many of the other PFD/MFD combos out there.
Really adds a lot to the CT!
John
John,
Did you retrofit the skyview in your CT or was it a factory installation? Do you have any pictures of your panel?
Doug
Sorry but can't figure out how to post a pix. If you'll send me your email address I'll send you pix of my retrofitted Skyview + 696 setup in my CTLS.

Doug,
We worked with Flight Design at Lockwood Aviation to prototye the first factory instillation.
The pictures are the same as on the factory website.
John
Hey John, we just ordered a new CTLS with the Skyview and a 430W and 696. Is there anything else you would put in the panel from the factory? We are installing Garmins 800 series traffic after we get it home. The new bird is getting the AM Safe Airbags too. The 2010 CTLS we are flying now has 310 hrs and is for sale on Gutmans website.
Will there be any room for gas?
Mike
your kidding right. These planes are like a 182, if you can get it in the plane and the baggage compartment and get the doors closed it will haul it. I am fortunate to weigh in at a 155 however, and flying solo with ten gallons of fuel is sure a lot more fun then being at gross. A guy can really appreciate the climb performance when grossing less than 1000 lbs. As far as the empty weight on the new bird, I would guess 790 lbs with it equipped as described.
I'm just jealous. A new CT would be cool. Like you've described, our CT's climb and perform like a 172-182. Just the other day a Aroncia Scout hit a power line about 10 miles west of Afton. Our Search and Rescue commander called to get my bird in the air with one of their people. 89WD found the downed aircraft, directed Life Flight via radio to the site while S&R guy that was with me worked with the snowmobilers on the ground, the 2 souls were rescued. They were hurt very, very badly but alive. After the 1.4 hr flight the guy that went with me was AMAZED at the aircraft. The climb performance, cruise speed, etc, etc. Cool little birds.
