    Default Experiences with TruTrak ADI?

    Hello Folks,

I consider to install a TruTrak ADI at one of our CTSWs. This plane has conventional instruments plus a MovingMap GPS from AvMap. A artificial horizon is missing.

Does anyone of you have some experiences with TruTrak ADI? Is it reliable or not?

    Any comment is welcomed.

This is the cockpit of the respective CTSW:

And this is the TruTrak ADI:

Markus, I have this Tru-Trak ADI in my CTSW. It has not given me any problems. I also have a Tru-Trak auto pilot and this too has worked well with no problems.

I installed the same unit (after the fact). It has performed perfectly, and I can't imagine not having one. The only problem has been the digital degree readout, which is the fault of a crummy installation/hookup. I believe you can add a battery backup - which seems like a good idea.

    Hello Tim, hello Dick,

thanks a lot for your comments. This will make my decision easier. ADI is ordered with backup battery and I will fiddle it in next week.

Unfortunately autopilots are not allowed in germany

    Always happy landings

    Markus,
    Why aren't auto pilots allowed?

I have no idea. It is not explicitly allowed to use APs with ultralights. In the governments point of view, this means it is forbidden. In Germany some private ultralight owners use APs anyway. In my situation, where the planes are used in a aviation club, I have to follow the government.

On the other hand, we have a MTOW of 472,5 kg (1040 lbs) and the additional weight of a AP-system will be a handicap.

    Greetings
