Has anyone done the Dynon firmware update V5.0 as yet? I note they are recommending owners to disconnect the "Keep alive" line on the EMS D120 & D10 (Pin 2 on the 37 pin harness) due to boot-up problems.

Hi Malt,
Yes I did mine just like all the others and no issues.
Thanks Roger......will go ahead and update mine tomorrow. I am wary of getting it wrong as sending the unit back to Dynon is a major logistical exercise from 'downunder'!!
Looks like some nice new features added with internal logging on the EFIS/GPS, incremental downloads etc. It's a pity the "audible 3-tone alert on autopilot disengage" will not work with the TruTrak A/P but I guess we can't have everything.

I don't have Dynon roger...... Dave has 2![]()

Had my D120 blue-screen on me today. Took 2 minutes to fix by disconnecting the harness.
Not sure if V5.0 fixes this problem.
Make sure your D120 is completely booted before killing power (e.g. engaging the starter).
Any D120 in the standard CT instillation should have the keep alive removed if the s/w is upgraded to version 4.0 or above. If it is left connected, you can expect the D120 to eventually fail to boot. The battery in the D100 takes over the keep alive functions in 4.0 or above though the DSAB bus.
If the D120 fails to boot, removing the keep alive usually fixes the problem.

Where's Roger.? Is this something the owner can do or do I have to find an LSA repairman to cut the wire?
Hi Scott,
I don't think anyone would notice if you reached in on the D120 which is the engine management side (right panel) and and was inspecting the 37 pin (not the 25 pin) wiring harness and the #2 pin, yellow wire became unplugged. Actually this is not a function needed for the plane's function and only an internal instrument function which has now been made obsolete by Dynon themselves. I'm not much for cutting wires because it just seem like whenever I do that I have to re-connect them some day, it never fails. So I would recommend unplugging it.
#2 is the pin, yellow wire, is on the widest part of the plug and second from the left if the wide part is facing up. (The widest part of the plug has more pins on that side)
Or you could just remove the fuse from the D120 keep alive. It is usually located on the ammeter shunt. Some early models do not have a fuse. If your ammeter quits working right then you removed the wrong fuse.

I plan to upgrade from v 4.0 to 5.03.
Do you know if all the configuration and preset are erased during the upgrade ?
All the preferences are supposed to be re-entered ?
Thank you
