    Just read lsa's may be ifr soon.article in aviation consumer says ct' s will be one of two certified for ifr any comments?

    I heard that when I was in school in May. It came from a very good source in the know. We just don't know when yet.

    Default READY TO FLY IFR NOW

    Now since it has been Snowing all mornig here in Madrid. Im ready to go flying some Ifr. :P

    Well,
    We may be hearing a new Sport Plane term: "IFR Equipped"
    Obviously, it is a plane capable of IFR and will use the same 912ULS we all have.
    It will be legal to use these planes for full IFR training.
    However, these planes will NOT be legal to fly into "known IFR conditions".
    I believe the Cirrus SRS will be one of these.
    I will try and confirm at Sebring (two weeks) and do an updated post.
    Source should be credible.

    Hmmmm .... if the airplane is not certified (or approved in the operating limitations for LSA and Experimentals) for IFR flight, making it IFR equipped is easy and can be done now. An airplane does not have to be IFR certified or even have all IFR required equipment for IFR training.

    If IFR approval is not forthcoming, this sounds like a marketing exercise.

    All I can add is that there is an ASTM committee looking at setting LSA IFR standards and our favorite avionics vendor up in Washington is active on the committee.
