I have been ask to post some sort of rules for our Columbia fly in fun, a.k.a. the bomb drop and the spot landing. I know at least one person that may give me a hard time about this decision, but here goes.
Everyone that flies between now and May can practice landing with their main tires as close to a line as possible. The closest three win a spot and little gift at night during one of our dinners in Columbia. That one is easy.
The bomb drop, well no rules until that day in Columbia. That will put everyone on an equal footing and make for more fun and laughs. The reason is that many people that fly out of airports can not practice like a few others at private airstrips or a place to drop things from the plane with the help of another person to help align and practice for accuracy. If I gave out all the specs some of you would be out on bomb runs every chance you got. If everyone gets the same chance at the same time it will make it a more equal event. That won't stop anyone that really wants to practice. You'll just have to guess at an altitude, bomb weight and speed.
Ok, now you can throw words at me, but you'll have to wait to stone me until Columbia.![]()
