Thread: Euro Fly In... somewhere in Europe.

Ladies & Gentlemen,
There are now more than enough Euro CTs for us to have our own little get together on the same weekend as our American flyers are having there fly in.... why let them have all the fun
So I therefore propose (but not offer to totally organise) a Fly in for all the UK & Mainland Euro flyers to meet at a yet to be organised date & time but around the weekend of the 8th May 2008.
Historically the weather in Europe is ok in May.... OK it isn't guarenteed but it's genarally not bad!
My thoughts are...
Every type of CT welcome... from every country except the USA... they have their own party
The further South the better.... I think we start with the IOW & move down if required, suggestions please & then I will do a poll for the favourite to be decided. Bear in mind it will be bloody cold to camp in May... so a nearby Hotel is required for those of us who don't like freezing & a closer supply of beer.
I am sure that we can contact our local agents & promote the meeting (even if some arn't members here yet) so we have a representative from all corners of Europe.
My intial thoughts are...
Sandown IOW is very close to the UK pilots (maybe too close) caravan site within crawling distance & a pub at the airfield.
Le Mans France ... great airport very cheap & central in France.
Templehoff Germany, due to close soon so maybe worth a visit on mass & take the CT back to Germany.
Maybe even a trip to the Ukraine... take them home for a visit....

What a great idea! I am quite happy with any of those suggestions as far as the venue is concerned although if you push it too far away it will put more people off the trip. Sandown is a good start but if we are going across the water we might as well go further towards the sun which will also encourage CT flyers from Spain and Germany. We have many within out UK CT group who are very experienced continental flyers and it would be nice to hear their suggestions. Ultimatley a poll of likley pilots might be a good idea.
The first UK CT fly-in was held at Sywell on 26th April 2003 which if I remember rightly was organised by Alasdair Arthur It seems a very long time ago. See attached picture

i would like to participate, France and south of Germany seems to be good locations for this kind of meeting - as FD is coming originally from Germany they might be interested for sponsering.

Count me in. Since we now have four CTsw's flying out of Damyns Hall (and I believe a fifth on the way) I will let everyone know and see if I can get the whole group to join in.

Germany is a good idea but from what I understand... sponsorship & Flight design don't go in the same sentance We don't need financial support just planes & people from all over Europe. Please ask around guys & lets get this thing going.
I will talk to Oliver (the UK distributor) tomorrow at Splash & see if he can contact all the UK flyers.

In this country we have the "N" number registeration list. It's on-line and you can download the owners names/addresses. I did that and sent them all a postcard.

If you get this nailed down Happy to put up a forum for you and a banner accross the top. Let me know how I can help.

Sounds great. How about going to Portugal.... or Spain. I have never been there.... We should have atleast 5 CTs from Damyns Hall by then, perhaps some of our CT friends from around London area may want to join as well.
I shall be pleased to organise a fly in at Damyns Hall in 2008 as well.
we have planned to visit Paris on the week end of 28th March to 30 March. Anyone joining with a CT is welcome.

Good to know you are "up for it Deepak".
Spain would be good but maybe less attractive than a central location on the German French or Italian border.
For those who are interested I suggest we do poll & work from that. I amy be back in OZ at the end of March.... but if not Paris sound great... will Nicky be with her.. I always fancied them both
